Connected Through Stories: Iranian Filmmakers in Conversation
This virtual gathering brings together Iranian film-makers and film scholars from two generations.
Through curated film clips and live dialogue, the program explores filmmaking before and after the 1979 Iranian Revolution. At its core, the discussion considers the relationship between pre- and post-Revolutionary cinema, with the hope that such a comparison may offer new ways of thinking about the future of Iranian film. The conversation also turns to the emotional and psychological dimensions of rupture—reflecting on the toll of political upheaval and social and cultural dislocation. It highlights how artistic expression can support mental and emotional well-being, helping individuals and communities process difficult histories, sustain connection across distance, and preserve cultural memory.
