Checkpoint
This event features a screening of the film Checkpoint (1987), which addresses the Iran Hostage Crisis and the external and internal challenges faced by Iranians living in the U.S. at that time. The film will be shown alongside live storytelling, music, and guided conversation, creating a culturally grounded space where participants can reflect on shared experiences.
Following the screening, a moderated panel including artists, scholars, and community voices will facilitate dialogue on the mental and emotional weight of displacement and unresolved historical wounds within the Iranian-American community.
Partner organizations will provide bilingual (Farsi–English) mental-health resources and referrals to culturally responsive support services, encouraging a stigma-free approach to mental health and helping community members access culturally responsive support.
